Iron Fist #1 Comic Review

Iron Fist is a marvel character that I knew nothing about until I started watching the Netflix original series this week.  After binge watching the show, which I highly recommend checking out, I did decide check out some of the comics.

Iron Fist is not a new character, however there is a new Iron Fist #1 that was just released.  I read through it quickly and I really liked it.  In the comic, he’s seems to be losing his Iron Fist powers which he draws from the chi force of K’un-Lun, which was destroyed.    Needless to say, Iron Fist is having an identity problem, since when he’s not Iron Fist, he’s Danny Rand.

Danny Ran is having a rough time finding himself, and begins frequenting a bar where whisky is his friend.  Until opportunity arises and Danny just may have a chance to find answers, and maybe even restore his power.

This was just the first issue of the comic, so this is where is 2017 storyline will begin.  Danny is a master of Kung Fu and even though his Iron Fist power is fading, he can still hold his own.

I am looking forward to the series.  He is an interesting character who doesn’t just fight but also has a very real human emotion side to him.  Making him easy to relate to on a few levels.

They leave us with Danny sailing off to find answers.  I can’t wait to take the journey with him.

Stan Lee’s Comikaze

Stan Lee’s Comikaze is here again in Los Angeles California.  We always see the best in Cosplay here.  The atmosphere is fun and exciting.

I’ve spoken to a lot of vendors who are here and they really seem to like setting up here.  I always find the really hard to find comics that I am looking for.

It is also a good chance to see some of my good friend who like to cosplay.  In fact they do fashion shows, which is amazing.  I will be posting pictures shortly of some of the cosplayers I’ve met.

Best of all it’s  place where we geeky nerdy folks can come together and meet one another.  I’ve met some great people at Comikaze, Comic-Con and WonderCon.  They are all great places to meet like minded people.

Reading The Walking Dead Comics Now

While The Walking Dead is on hiatus until February, I’ve decided to read the comic book version of the show.  I don’t know why I’ve never read the comics, even though I read comics almost daily.  So far as of today I’ve read the first 15 issues of the comic.  It’s interesting to see the differences between the show and the comic.  I like that though, and I hope the show continues to throw in wrenches away from the comic book.

I will be watching Fear the Walking Dead on AMC in the mean time as well.  I do not know if it will ever happen but I look forward to a time where the show, the comics and Fear the Walking Dead all come together to create a cohesive storyline, where we know what has happened and how we got to where we meet Rick in The Walking Dead.

I may just keep have to keep dreaming on that one.

Wonder Con 2016, LA or Bust

UnknownWonder Con begins this weekend, March 25-27.  It is usually held in Anaheim CA, but has now made the move to the Los Angeles Convention center.  I’m not sure how I feel about this move, but I do know that other events that take place here do very well, such as E3 and Comikaze.  It’s a much bigger venue than the Anaheim convention center.

So far the ease of buying tickets and even being able to purchase a parking ticket for all three days seems too good to be true.  This should be a smooth convention if things go right.

I do know that they will be using a new RFID wrist band to allow people in and out access.  I am curious as to how this is going to work and how effective it will really be against sharing and people entering for free with other’s badges.  Will this count the number of people inside and maybe give the volunteers some information as to how to control the crowd?

I am very excited to attend Wonder Con this year in LA.  I think it will make the convention better in so many ways.  First it’s bigger, and more vendors and artists can show off their hard work.  Two the location is great, I’ve always liked the LA Live area.  There’s plenty of restaurants that aren’t in hotels.  And it’s closer to my house.

I’m hoping for organization and a good time.  Thats all I want, thats all anyone wants.  Make sure you bring your backpack and stay hydrated.  You’ll thank me.  No-one wants to get out of line due to being thirsty.  And if you do decide to buy something, you’ll want to have a bag handy to put your shiny new goods in.

Have fun everyone!  I’ll be periodically updating this weekend.
