Captain Marvel is Another Piece to the MCU Puzzle

Captain Marvel official Logo

We’ve seen 20 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is the 21st. There is a lot of information, characters, places and events to put together in order to make sense of it all. We know the Avengers, now we are being introduced to Captain Marvel, AKA Carol Danvers portrayed by Brie Larson.

Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel

If you are wondering, no I am not going to spoil the film, just some thoughts I am having after having just watched the film at the El Capitan fan event. These events are always fun, come with popcorn, drink and a special collectors pin or coin, sometimes comic. Tonight it was a coin. It was pretty cool.

There is a lot about Captain Marvel that people can relate to on many different levels. You may see yourself in one situation and your friend in a another. What I felt when watching the film was that no matter what I’m faced with, I just need to get up and keep fighting.

It is possible to become a “hero” even when that’s not your plan. You don’t need superpowers to do that either, however if you read the comics and/or see the movie you will see, Captain Marvel does acquire a “power” so to speak. The film not only brings us along her journey, it might make you think of your own. Where have you been and how strong were you? Did you do the right thing?

Yon-Rogg and Vers (Captain Marvel)

I think once Infinity Wars End Game comes out we will appreciate Carol more. We lost a lot of strong favorites in the last film. It is my hope that she can help. I can tell you this, she does have skills that can be helpful to the Avengers. Much like Dr. Strange, and his mentor, she spent time learning from Jude Law who played Yon-Rogg. What she does with her knowledge is up to her.

I will write a much more detailed review of the film after more have seen in, I’d say if your a fan you will see it within the week. Till then I don’t want to spoil it at all for any one who may come across this article.

Infinity Wars; A reflection

I’ve had a few weeks now to think about the Infinity Wars film.  There was so much to take in, and so much to ponder.  Am I any closer to knowing what will happen next.  I won’t know until the next one comes out.

I thought the film did a great job of cumulating all the previous films and characters together.   There were times I did go back and re-watch a few movies before  I went  and saw Infinity Wars, which really helped a lot.

I found that the movie flowed well.  Bringing them all together and knowing their backstories and what they had been through, really made it feel very comfortable to watch.

Josh Brolin was great at playing Thanos, and his relationship with Gamora seemed to be his weakness.  To me, all villains have a weak spot.  I wish he didn’t have to do what he did, but we had two storylines going on.  One of Thanos trying to get the stones, and the other tryings to stop it.

I dont think the ones that were “dusted” at the snap of his finger are actually gone.  I’m not quite sure what Doctor Strange saw in his visions, but I do believe he saw that in order to win this “war”, Tony had to be alive, and perhaps Doctor Strange wasn’t even part of it.   We all know the the time stone can reverse time and if someone, whom I think is Nebula or Cap can get close enough to the Gautlet, give it to Thor who does indeed know how to get to where the mold for the Gauntlet is, we just might be able to recreate a new Gauntlet.  What would a second snap do?  Would they turn back time?

I’ll leave you with this, I though it was way out of character for Tony Stark to have a flip phone.  for Doctor Strange to hand over the time stone, and Tony’s vision of having a child, as if it was real, had already happened.  Could that have happened and he actually remembered it, even though Pepper had said no, no child.  I do not believe that he meant Spiderman.

Lastly I think we’ll see some heroes come back.  Some we won’t.  But overall Marvel did a great job with this film.  It gets you to think.  There is so much more I have to say about the film but I’ll keep it short.

What are your thoughts?
