Cobra Kai Comes to Wondercon

Today we had the opportunity to attend a panel and round table of the YouTube Red exclusive Cobra Kai. Season 2 is going to begin streaming on April 24th 2019. If you’re a fan of the first films and you watched season one of Cobra Kai, season two will be a much anticipated show to watch. What I like best about this show, besides the show itself is that we can binge the full season and not have to wait week by week for a new episode.

Our panel consisted of the series who are stars of the show and members of Cobra Kai Dojo. We began with William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence), Martin Kove (John Kreese), Xolo Mariduena (Miguel Diaz) Jacob Bertrand (Eli, “Hawk”), and the series creators/exectutive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossboerg.

One of the first notable things about this panel is the cohesiveness that this cast has with one another. While the lore of the show goes back 30 years, it still has enough left to tell, that I can easily forsee many more seasons. While none could confirm this, I am pretty sure that season 2 will not be the last. It possibly could have been a slip of the tongue, but I heard them mention season 3.

We were shown a clip of the next season, and I must say it is impressive. I anticipate this show to go on for a bit. Especially with the original cast, it doesn’t get much better than that, even as they are training a younger generation in different dojos with different styles.

The feud between Danny Larusso (Ralph ) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) is one that most of us have wondered about over the years. What actually happened to them after that iconic fight? After watching season one, even though it appears that Danny has moved on, it is quite clear that opening up Cobra Kai has got him a bit upset. I’m sure this will be a big driver in the next season.

Afterwards we were able to talk to them in a round table setting. It was a great experience.
